    Brett Figueroa

    Our fearless leader. Brett is originally from California where he was a wildland firefighter. He left Cali and moved to Montana for a brief stint after too many cold Montana winters, Brett landed on the beautiful shores of Vieques. He and our cofounder/head artist Edwin Colon came up with the idea of putting Vieques art on shirts and Sato Ink was born.

    Edwin Colon

    Edwin is the cofounder of Sato Ink and our head artist. Edwin’s family traces their roots to Vieques to the first Spanish who colonized Vieques. Edwin is a true Viequense. His unique art is what has inspired us to put them on shirts and share it with the world. His work blends and old school flare that illustrates Viequense culture.

    Sean O'Brien

    Sean grew up on the shores of Orange County, CA. He spent 30 years of being landlocked in Wyoming and Montana, where he was a fly fishing outfitter. During that time he traveled to 5 continents searching for a new place to call home. Immediately after arriving in Vieques he knew he had found it. He is also head of our sales and marketing.

    Captain Kahlil Thomas

    Kahili was born and raised on Culebra. The house he grew up in was on stilts on the ocean at the entrance to the harbor in Culebra. Kahlil left Culebra for 15 years but the Caribbean eventually called him home. Kahlil operates a sailboat charter and fishing charter business, Calypso Catamaran Charters, in both Culebra and Vieques. If you are looking to snorkel and/or fish the waters of Vieques and/or Culebra, Kahlil will take care of you. He is also an amazing chef and provides an amazing lunch, sometimes with the fish you catch.

  • Captain Delvin

    Vieques is an island steeped in fishing tradition. Delvin comes from a long line of Viequense fisherman. He began fishing with his grandfather before he knew how to walk. Delvin has Caribbean salt water running through his veins. He operates Vieques Water Taxi and has a fishing charter business as well. He and Kahlil work together as well. If you are looking for fishing charter or a quick way to get to the Main Island or Culebra, Delvin is the man.

  • Lane Waller

    Lane is originally from Texas. Having a professional bullfighter as a father he spent a lot of his young years around rodeo circuits and ranches. He first showed up in Vieques in 2010 to visit his grandparents which he continued to to do frequently over the next five years. By 2015 at the fine young age of 18 he knew he liked riding surfboards way more than horses and made Vieques his full time home. In 2017 Vieques was all but leveled by the CAT-5 Hurricane Maria leaving the the island without electricity for over a year. While many of the American residents left waiting for repairs to be finished Lane stayed and helped out wherever he could, thus earning him a great name and a lot of respect amongst the locals.

    Nicolette is originally from “The First State” Delaware. Nicolette came to Vieques in 2019 wanting to learn to dive and like many of us decided Vieques was where she wanted to be.

    Quinn, pictured here with Zeus who can be found on our Sato Page, is the up and coming head of sales fo Sato Ink. If you say no to buying Sato Ink product from her, you’ll have to answer to Zeus!
