Satos of Vieques

  • Cope "RIP"

Cope was never a sato, just a goofy pure bred Chocolate Lab. Cope spent most of his life between Southern California and Montana chasing Waterfowl, Upland Birds and getting into the trashcan. He retired to the beautiful island of Vieques in April of 2023 to enjoy the last of his days in the Caribbean where he died in August of 2023 two months shy of 13 years old. Cope took a liking to our main artist Edwin and became the the foundation to the Sato INK logo.

  • Kaipo

Kaipo is the dog formally known as Sato. Kaipo found Sean the first year he was living Vieques in the barrio of Martinaeu. Kaipo had been living in the jungle alone up until then. It took over 3 months until she would trust Sean enough to let him touch her. Since then, she lives the life all Sato’s dream about. Sh has her own couch to sleep on and goes everywhere with Sean. She has even been to Montana twice to visit Sean’s family and friends. Although she would always rather be on the beach hunting crabs or iguanas. Sean wants to write a book series titled “Kaipo’s Big Adventures”

  • Zeus AKA "Big Head"

Zeus likes to pretend he’s a sato but, he’s not. Zeus lives on a farm in La Hueca and belongs to a great Viequense family. Zeus is an escape artist though and loves to breakout. He often cruises between the restaurants on The Malecon in Esperanza hustling tourists for their scraps and leftovers. He is a beast of a pitbull and looks terrifying but he’s a giant, happy Teddy Bear.

  • Vega

Vega is a reformed Sato from Vega Baja on La Isla. His owner first found him on the beach in rough shape in the advanced stages of heartworm. After leaving the beach she decided she had to help him but had no luck finding him again. She started asking around with the locals and leaving them her phone number. In her words “I put a B.O.L.O. on this fucking dog!” but, her vacation ended with no luck. Once back in the states though sightings started to come in and somehow somebody tracked him down. Vega is now an upscale salon dog living in Boston and after a lengthy complex treatment he is heartworm free and healthy. He now enjoys eating ‘pup cups’ and he hates wheelchairs!
